It's the Simple Things in Life

I just wrote a whole depressing blog where I did nothing but moan and complain, but I erased the whole damn thing and will leave you with this for now:

We bought new silverware today with gift cards that we received as belated wedding gifts, and I'm so tickled pink over the cutlery that I can't contain myself. Adios, three mismatched sets of forks, knives and spoons with water marks and rust spots! Goodbye, Wal-Mart special black-handled forks with the two silver dots that broke whenever you tried to eat a burrito on your cream-colored couch (if it sounds like I'm speaking from experience, I am)! Hello, matching salad forks, dinner forks, teaspoons, dinner spoons, and butter knives for twelve place settings! Plus, we got eight serving pieces! EIGHT! And they're silver and shiny, with no spots! I washed, dried, and neatly stacked them in the drawer myself! Hell, I might even want to hand-wash them from now on!! Yeah, that's not going to happen. The stacks aren't even going to last through the night. But I love, love, love my new silverware. Our new silverware. I love it.

We also bought a new set of knives, a really nice set, with kitchen shears and a sharpening rod and everything. They're stainless steel and beautiful. I hand-washed those too. And we bought a frying pan big enough for Hamburger Helper with extra noodles... you know, for when we have company. Nobody will ever know. I'll make it and call it "Kandice's Creation" and everyone will say it's soooo good cooked in my amazing frying pan and eaten using my beautiful forks. My dinner parties will be the talk of Enterprise and I shall rule the world.

It's been a trying week. My mom is still in the hospital with pneumonia. Please keep her in your prayers for a speedy recovery. Thanks.

  1. I love things that are new and shiny...aka I still haven't taken all the protective plastic off of the laptop that I got before Thanksgiving.

and I'm a copy cat and started a blog. But you can't hold me responsible for my actions. I hang out with 6 year olds...a land where copy cat-ing is cool..
