As you can imagine, there were guns. Lots of guns. Tables full of guns. Rows and rows of tables full of guns. I saw piles of pistols, some of which were old, cool, and could have shown up in the shop featured on Pawn Stars. Side note: Pawn Stars is only, like, the second best show on The History Channel (behind Modern Marvels, of course) and features some of the coolest old stuff ever. There were hundreds of rifles and shotguns, and I finally, finally learned the difference between the two. There were also -I guess- military grade sniper rifles and hardcore guns like that. It was overwhelming how many guns were in this one building. What was really bizarre though was all of the other stuff there.
Many vendors had stun guns. Pink stun guns. 2 million volt, butt-whoopin' pink stun guns. I've never seen one in person, but I was oddly drawn to the loud clicking sound they gave off as a warning. They're like rattlesnakes or something. Anyway, there were knives ranging from little bitty Swiss Army size to freaking machetes. There were brass knuckles marketed as "paper weights ;)," seriously, with the little winky face and everything. There were pocketbooks that were specifically made to conceal a weapon, along with not so attractive costume jewelry (both of which Sean thought I would like... ummmm?). There were collector's coins, which I actually thought were really cool, but I was kind of like, "what are these doing at a gun show?" There were tee shirts upon tee shirts, and, as a Meredith girl, normally I would be interested in picking up a few. However, these shirts said things like "Fire Congress," "Fight Socialism," and "Reasons Why a Woman Loves a Gun More than a Man" (or something like that). Erm... thanks, but no thanks.
Now, I've given you the setting. I should also tell you about the children running around, some still in their church clothes and some barefooted. One little girl in her Sunday best was licking on a huge sucker and browsing the guns with her mom. There were plenty of Confederate flags to be found. It was definitely, pardon my frank language, a redneck party.
As crazy as it sounds, I saw a .38 Special there that I really liked! I've been shooting with Sean twice and I'm not very comfortable with it, but this little pink revolver made by Charter Arms called the Pink Cougar would look so good in my bedside table.
Anyone want to donate about $400 to Kandice's Firearm Fund?
I went to charleston to visit a friend and her fiancee has an arsenal. They took me shooting and girlllll I love the Springfield xd 9, google that and tell me it's not bad ass! I want the one with the silver part on top. Oh yea!

ReplyDeleteMy husband has a Springfield xd 40; he says it's a little bigger than the 9. He has a smaller pistol too, but the Springfield is his favorite. They're nice guns.
ReplyDeleteI never in a million years thought I'd want a gun of my own though! Pink makes things so much more desirable in my opinion.
