Alright, I'm totally going to sound like an old lady in this post, but I've faced my gray-haired demons and I've accepted that there are just some things I'm too old to understand.
What's up with this Twitter thing? My gosh, it's been around (and popular) for like, what, two years now? And I still don't know what the fuss is all about. From what I understand, it's a platform for a bunch of Facebookesque status updates. If that's true, why wouldn't you just regularly update your Facebook status?
I've read articles and I've heard from people that "tweets" are more for regular updates about what you're eating/watching/doing and other mundane things that don't belong on Facebook status updates. But my question here is: why don't these things belong on Facebook? What are status updates for if you can't update them whenever you want with whatever information you want? Some people say that you should only update your Facebook status once a week or so, but geez, I'm on the darn site, so why shouldn't I update it?
And another thing: isn't it just another thing to keep up with? I recently ditched my Myspace, which has made life a little easier, but I added this blog, which has been a new and exciting experience altogether. I like blogging, so I don't mind the extra website that I must visit at least fairly regularly. And don't you have to have followers on Twitter? On Facebook, you force all of your friends to know what you're doing at all times, but on Twitter, you have to add people before they can be subjected to your boring life. Am I right about that? I've had enough trouble trying to get followers for this blog (thanks to the few, the proud, the 7 who follow me!).
I would probably know the answers to many of the questions if I could browse Twitter without having to sign up for it. I don't want to make such a commitment blindly.
Please, dear readers, help me understand the benefits of Twitter. I'm asking these questions in all seriousness and I'm looking for answers. Let me know your experience with it or why you chose not to have one. I've been considering getting one, so let me know why I should.

Twitter is basically a stalker's paradise. I mean people tell what they're doing and who they're doing it with and what exact moment said activity is going down. It also allows you to follow your fave celebrities. I have one but I almost never get on it.
ReplyDeleteI swore I would never use twitter, but then i signed up, and I swore I wouldn't be obsessed with it. Ooops. I write stuff there that I wouldn't want to post on Facebook where everyone i've met from the last ten years can read it. I like it!
